Part 99: Will it Blend?

Chapter 98 - Will it blend?





Last time we had just defeated the Proud Clod.





[Mystile] is one of the best armors in the game.



It gives you high defense, decent materia slots and, more importantly - 50% chance to dodge physical attacks and 60% change to dodge magic attacks.



This place has some really cool-looking Shinra Military enemies.



And up we go to the cannon.



And this right there is one big lost-forever item.



This chest can only be opened if you have Barret in your team.





The [Missing Score] is Barret's Ultimate Weapon. It scales with the amount of AP (Materia experience) in the attached materias.



I mean seriously, look at this enemy.



After "searching" for an enemy it displays the messages "Target Set" and "Countdown". Alright, I'll play.



It has little Dragon feet. It's adorable.





Oh hell yea.



Wait really



Did you just set up a countdown and release a gigantic laser to deal 40 damage. I am disappointed.



I mean the cannon has quite a bit of health but the countdown is really slow.



I guess it's the kind of stuff that made so many gameplay rebalance/hard mode mods appear.



You can also fight some 1st Class SOLDIERs here and steal their Shinra Alphas, but at this point we just have so many better options.



Anyway, as soon as we climb up the stairs we reach the command center of the cannon.



Cloud: "At least remember my name! It's Cloud!"

Hojo: "Every time I see you, I..."



Well, you got that right.



This also makes a lot of sense and is something that bugged me the first time I played, until I got to this part. I always thought Cloud was the one that succeeded, not the opposite.



Right there with you, Hojo. We feel you.



Hojo: "...nonsense?"



Hojo: "Oh, this? Ha, ha ha..."



Hojo: "Sephiroth seems to be counting on the energy. So I'm going to lend him a hand."





Hojo: "Quit asking me why, you moron."




Say Cloud, have you ever pondered what would happen if you managed to breed Final Fantasy VII with a Shooter? Maybe include our little emo friend there as part of the process, hmm?



This was supposed to be the big plot twist reveal but since we've already seen it in the form of Lucrecia's flashback, it ends up being a bit awkward.



Hojo: "Ha, ha, ha... HA, HA, HA ...!!"



Great plan Hojo. You know we can't stop Sephiroth so you're making him kill himself instead.



Ok, it's been fun Hojo, for a while. You're just miserable now.



Cue All my Circuits' revelation theme.



Hojo: "When Sephiroth was still in the womb, we took the cells of Jenova..."








Hojo: "HA, HA, HA!!"


Cloud: "I can't believe you're the one who did this..."



Wait what does that even mean?



Say Cloud, can you breed... a soap.... WITH AN OPERA?



Hojo: "I... was defeated by my desire to become a scientist. I lost the last time as well."



Come on man.










Hojo is a boss fight split in three phases. Because one true form is never enough.





As one should expect, Hojo attacks inflicts lots of different status ailments. It also starts the battle by casting "Capsule" and spawning two adds.



Once you defeat it, it becomes some sort of horrible monster that makes Tetsuo the Iron Man look healthy.



The battle becomes fairly trivial if you have a Ribbon equipped, though.



Not quite as good at games as Lifeform-Hojo KR.
